Helping your HOA Go Green

Members on the Demo Estates Board of Directors have been working hard to implement "green technologieslong before "going green" was cool. For example, we have expanded our website to include useful information such as alerts and special announcements which always appear on the home page, our "new resident packet", newsletters, schedule of upcoming events, community activity information and photos, and our services listings (similar to Angie's list but with a local perspective).
This website is promoted as "the place to go" to learn about neighborhood and City-wide activities and programs. As a result, we are able to provide frequent, timely, and ongoing effective communications without adding to our landfills.
Over 200 homes in our community utilize the website on a regular basis. Members of our homeowners association also have the option to "opt out" of receiving the hard copy version of our newsletters. Since a neighborhood wide email is issued with a link for viewing the latest issue as soon as it gets posted to our website, we are able to drastically reduce the number of copies that need to be printed and mailed.

Landscape Trimming Notice

You may have noticed that the shrubbery in front of garages has been trimmed. In many areas, the juniper bushes had gotten very tall. The shrubs will be shaped as they grow back.

Homeowners are again reminded of the following:
  • You are responsible for keeping your patio trees and plants trimmed.
  • Excessive growth could cause damage to the patio or surrounding wall.
  • The CC&R's state that plants in patio areas cannot exceed nine feet.
  • Make sure your plants and trees are trimmed back so they don't spill over fences into neighboring patio areas.
  • No plants, pots or other decorations may be placed on the patio wall.
You don't want to receive a letter of violation so be sure your patio decorations, shrubs and plants comply with community regulations.
